As an artist, I am interested in combining my personal experience with the broader socio-cultural
context in which the work is produced.
In my work, I question the possibilities of intervention by the use of elements that constitute my environment.
Thus, my interest is to explore the relation of transformation between the landscape, the object, and the subject; questioning identity by the modification of elements based on their physical and/or symbolic qualities.
The method of observation and experimentation with the surroundings is essential in creating new relationships with the environment.

Friederike Fast

“Francisco Montoya Cázarez’s works are both personal and universal, private and
political. They tie the material with the spiritual, and refuse common sense in order
to reveal a stubborn, obstinate sense of things and to reclaim the poetry of the
banal, observing the every day from new perspectives.”
